2007: COSMO from SONIC X

Welcome to Battle of the Characters 2008 Developer's Division! This year's teams and combatants are...

Team Nintendo
The veteran developer Nintendo has released quite a few great games this year, but only one of those game's characters will advance to become the company's Defender and face off against the other developers!
Mario (Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl): Associated will all that is Nintendo, everybody's favorite plumber comes to BoC 2008 to defend his creators!
Luigi (Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl): Mario's younger brother also has hopes to defend Nintendo. Will he defeat his older brother and become Nintendo's Defender?
Peach (Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl) The Mushroom Kingdom's princess comes to BoC 2008 to face some of the greatest Nintendo stars, in hopes of defending Nintendo!
Bowser (Super Mario Galaxy, SSBB): Mario's biggest rival comes to show everybody else that he (and Nintendo) are the kings around here.
Link (Twilight Princess, Phantom Hourglass, SSBB): The Hero of Hyrule hopes to also become the Hero of Nintendo. Will he be victorious?
Zelda/Sheik (Twilight Princess, SSBB, Phantom Hourglass): Hyrule's princess comes sporting magic, a pink dress, and some kick*ss ninja moves and hopes to kick some *ss.
Pikachu (Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, Pokemon Battle Revolution, SSBB): It was an electric year for Pokemon in 2008. Pikachu wants everybody to know that.
Ganondorf (Twilight Princess, SSBB): The King of Darkness is back, and he isn't going to let anybody steal his throne.
Kirby (Kirby Super Star, SSBB) This wasn't Kirby's best year. I'll admit that. But the little guy's still determined to take the lead in '08.
Samus (Metroid Prime 3, SSBB) MP3 was one of the best games this year. Samus hopes to ride that victory to further glory.
Kirby has become Nintendo's champion!

Team Sega
The blue blur was back and better than ever in games like The Dark Brotherhood. Of course, Tails and the others can't be counted out either.
Sonic (Dark Brotherhood, Sonic Rush Adventure, SSBB): Sonic wasn't exclusivly Sega when he joined SSBB this year. With this fame, he hopes to become Sega's Defender.
Tails (Dark Brotherhood, Sonic Rush Adventure): Tails held a large role in Dark Brotherhood, commanding a ground squad in Metropolis while Sonic and Knux were on Angel Island. Is more fame in store for this former sidekick?
Knuckles (Dark Brotherhood, Sonic Rush Adventure): Knux learned that he wasn't alone in Dark Brotherhood (even if the other members of his species were power mad techno wizards), and he hopes to bring the Echidnas glory in '08.
Amy (Dark Brotherhood, Sonic Rush Adventure): Amy? Over Sonic? Apparanty so, as revealed early in Dark Brotherhood. Dispite this development, Amy is still in the fight for power and hopes to defeat her old crush this year.
Eggman (Dark Brotherhood, Sonic Rush Adventure): The old doctor turned his back on evil in the Dark Brotherhood. He still hopes to defeat Sonic in BoC, however. And rule the world!
Shadow (Dark Brotherhood): Sonic's dark side returns. With a vengance. "Vote for me," he says, "or I'll Chaos Spear your face off." Yikes.
Tails has become Sega's champion! (Shadow, please don't kill me! I had nothing to do with it, honest!)

Team Microsoft
Microsoft has seen some great games this year, from Assassins Creed to Halo 3. While these games are 3rd party, their characters didn't want to be left out of the action. Out of all of the great heroes (and villans) from Xbox 360, only one will walk away.

John-117 (Master Cheif) (Halo 3): The military is John's life. Kidnapped, cloned, and then trained to be a soilder from the age of six as a participant of the SPARTAN II program, the Cheif has survived countless battles. He is one of a few SPARTANs still alive, as most of the super soilders were killed during the battle of REACH.
The Arbiter (Halo 3): The Arbiter was orginally a very high ranked Elite, holding the rank of Shipmaster for the Covenant Fleet on Installation 04. When the ring-world was destroyed by Master Chief, the Coventant's holy leaders blamed the Arbiter and he was stripped of his rank and forced to become the Arbiter, a "holy warrior" that is forced to go on suicide missions to redemn himself. The Arbiter eventually learned that the holy leaders were leading the Covenant to death and led the Elites in a Civil War, joining the humans and Master Cheif.
Altiar (Assassin's Creed): A member of the Assassins during the Third Crusade, Altiar and the organization he was a part of fought against the Templars.
The Apprentice (The Force Unleashed): Trained in secret by Darth Vader, the Apprentice was sent to hunt down the remaining Jedi and eventually Emperor Palpatine. After becoming a Jedi and then becoming one with the force, he returns to the galaxy to face powerful foes in Battle of the Characters 2008.
Master Cheif has become Microsoft's champion!

Team Creative Games
08 was a big year for my computer game startup. The game isn't finished. Nor is it about to be. But the characters are here and ready to fight!

Matt (The Amulet of Mana): The Light Mage will blast away his competitors, and hopefully bring CG glory.
Swift (The Amulet of Mana): The Mana Hero is here as well. She says, "If you don't vote for me I'll Spiral Blade your face." Yikes.
Kevin (The Amulet of Mana): He's got a spear. 'Nuff said.
Tamm (The Amulet of Mana): The Shadow Mage is determined to beat his Light Mage rival to the punch.
Matt has become Creative Games champion!

Team Hamumu
The dumb game developer comes with characters such as the hammer-weilding Bouapha, the... loony Dr. Lunatic, and the company mascot Yerfdog.

Bouapha: He will smash your face with a hammer if you don't vote for him.
Dr. Lunatic: Beware. He can become a zombie.
Yerfdog: He's a dog, he bounces randomly, and is a mascot. What else do you need?
The Kid: The hero of Costume Party is here! Only this time, he has no costumes to aid him.
Yerfdog has become Hamumu's champion!
